Check that there's no air left in your brake hydraulic system before adjusting the parking brake. Also adjust the rear brakes correctly for each model. Repeat pressing the parking brake lever between 3 and 5 times to make sure it's fully engaged. A healthy parking brake needs 5 to 6 clicks to lock properly. We pull more on the cable when more clicks are needed and release for fewer clicks. You can adjust by taking off the middle console cover, backing off the locknut, turning the adjuster nut clockwise to tighten or counterclockwise to loosen the cable. Pull up on the parking brake lever two more times, keep counting four or five click sounds until it stays engaged, adjust as necessary, then tighten the locknut onto the adjuster nut. Start by taking out the center console, then loosen and adjust both nuts, remove the rear wheel's lug nuts, lift the car back on secure stands, and detach the wheels.
