For 2000 and 2001 without turbo models, first remove the negative battery terminal cable and Idle Air Control (IAC) solenoid valve from the throttle body. Unplug the electrical connector to MAP sensor, remove the mounting screws from the throttle body to free off the sensor. Replace old MAP sensor gasket with new one and put in place new sensors and IAC valve using new gaskets. For 2003 and later models, disconnect the negative battery terminal cable, then unplug electrical connector of MAP sensor. Remove it by taking out mounting screws on throttle body and discard its old O-ring. When installing this component add a new O-ring on it. For 2004 onwards turbocharged models, disconnecting negative battery terminal will do apart from unplugging electrical connector of MAP sensor. After removing this part by unscrewing mountings at throttle body connections, do away with its former O-ring. While fixing back this device provide it with a fresh O-ring as well. For 2005 onwards turbocharged Legacy and Outback models have to first disconnect the negative battery harness then get to know where is situated No1 cylinder intake manifold runner small bracket that has MAP Sensor mounted on it just before it . The electric wire plug connecting to this gadget must be detached together with vacuum hose connected here too for that matter . Loosen holding nut so as to take away sensing element itself . Please check if there is a need for replacement of vacuum tubing beforehand putting everything in reverse order during reinstallation procedure in line with all these steps outlined above.
