  Q: How Do I Remove and Replace a Drive Axle Assembly?

  A: Remove wheel cover, loosen axle nut and lug nuts. Raise vehicle and support on jack stands. Remove wheel, disconnect control arm from steering knuckle. Remove axle nut and axle shaft assembly. Remove spring pin, pry inner CV joint from Differential. Inspect bearings in knuckle. Use new spring pin to lock CV joint to differential stub shaft. Tighten axle nut, install wheel and lug nuts. Lower vehicle, tighten axle nut and lug nuts to torque. Check transaxle or differential lubricant level, add if needed.

The inner CV joint can be disassembled, but the axleshaft and outer CV joint cannot. Driveshaft issues are typically signaled by noise or vibration while driving.
