  Q: How to Replace the Alternator?

  A: The tumble Alternator system, used in all turbocharged models, reduces emissions during start-ups through butterfly valves in the lower intake manifolds. When the engine is cold, the PCM activates the actuator, nearly closing the valves and creating a tumbling motion for a complete burn. Installation is the reverse of removal.

  Q: How Do I Remove and Install an Alternator?

  A: To replace the alternator, disconnect the cable, remove the drivebelt cover and the alternator drivebelt, and disconnect the Battery Cable and the electrical connector from the alternator by lifting the cover and removing the nut to disconnect the battery cable from the B+ terminal, then depressing the release tab and disconnecting the electrical connector from the alternator, remove the adjustment and pivot bolts and detach the alternator. Installation is the reverse order of the removal.
