How to remove and install a headlight housing on a Subaru Outback?

Detach the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. If you are removing a right-hand headlamp assembly, remove the air intake hose. Take out the grill(s) and bumper that is in front of it. Unplug all electrical connections to all headlights bulbs as well as parking, turn signal and side-marker light bulbs. So, if some wires cannot be reached at this point in time, disconnect them later upon removal of a headlight casing axially. For 2005 and earlier models take out three bolts which fix a headlamp assembly; for 2006 and 2007 models-five bolts plus clips; for 2008 and later models six bolts inclusive of one clip to release. Pull up on each housing until it clears its retaining pins, then unplug any additional connectors still attached to it. To install, reverse removal step by step process while fine-tuning headlights into their right position.
