To check the shock absorbers, park the vehicle on level ground, turn off the engine, and set the parking brake. Push down on one corner of the vehicle and release it, observing the movement of the body. It should come to rest in a level position within one or two bounces. If the vehicle continues to move up and down or fails to return to its original position, worn or weak shock absorbers may be the cause. Repeat this check at each corner of the vehicle.

Insert the inner race into the cage ensuring markings align.Press balls into the cage.Protect the axleshaft splines with tape, slide on the boot, and then remove the tape.Install the inner race and cage assembly, ensuring the larger diameter side of the cage faces the axleshaft end.Install the snap-ring, fill the boot with CV joint grease, pack the inner race and cage with grease, and then slide the outer race onto the inner race.Install the wire ring retainer, seat the boot ends, equalize boot pressure with a dull screwdriver, and use a special tool to secure the boot clamps.

Any movement indicates the need for suspension ball joint replacement.
