- A:Remove the wheel cover and loosen the axle shaft nut, then loosen the wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jack stands, remove the wheel, disconnect the control arm from the steering knuckle, remove the axle shaft nut, pull the axle shaft assembly out of the steering knuckle, locate the spring pin and remove pin, pry the inner CV joint out of the differential, inspect the inner and outer bearings in the knuckle, use a new spring pin to lock the inner CV joint to the differential stub shaft, tighten the axle shaft nut as securely as you can with the vehicle raised, install the wheel and lug nuts and lower the vehicle to the ground, tighten the axle shaft nut to the torque and the wheel lug nuts to the torque, check the transaxle lubricant level or differential lubricant level, adding as necessary.Posted by SubaruPartsDeal Specialist
