All models are equipped with electric cooling fans actuated by a series of relays controlled by the Power train Control Module (PCM) which receives information from the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor. First check the fan fuse, then check the fan motor for proper operation by connecting the ends of the jumper wires to battery voltage. If the fan fails to operate, replace the fan motor. If the fan motor tested good, check the fan relays mounted in the engine compartment fuse/relay box. If the relay does not perform as described, replace it with a new part. If the relays tested good, check the wiring in the circuit. To remove the fan motor, drain the cooling system, remove the engine splash shield, air intake duct, coolant reservoir, heat-shield, cover, fan motor electrical connectors, upper radiator hose, and anything else that might be attached to the fan shroud. Remove the fan motor mounting bolts and any clips for the harness from the shroud and then remove the fan motor and fan. If the fan motor is being replaced, remove the fan from the old motor and attach it to the new motor. Installation is the reverse of removal and refill the cooling system. Start the engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature, then verify proper fan operation.
