    How do you remove the exterior door handle, lock cylinder, and latch assembly together for the 2002 Subaru Impreza? Posted by Customer

    Disengage the inside handle-to-latch actuating rods from the latch. Working through the access hole on the inside of the door, disengage the outside handle-to-latch rods and the lock cylinder-to-latch rod from the latch assembly. Remove the three latch retaining screws and then remove the latch assembly from the door. Note: On 2007 and earlier models, there is a fourth bolt on the door panel side that must be removed. Installation is the reverse of removal.

    For 2008 and later models, open the trunk and remove any trunk lid trim panels surrounding the latch. Scribe or paint a line around the latch assembly to ensure correct alignment during installation. The trunk lid latch is held by two fasteners. Remove these bolts, then disconnect the electrical connector and cable from the back of the latch. Remove the latch. To reinstall, reverse the steps and align the latch with the marks made prior to removal.
