If you see puddles of lubricant under the transaxle, you can raise the vehicle and place it securely on jack stands to determine the source of the leak.

To replace the driveaxle oil seals, start by removing the exhaust manifold and the center exhaust pipe. Then, place a drain pan under the transaxle. Remove the driveaxle(s) from the transaxle. Use a special seal removal tool to pry the driveaxle oil seal from the transaxle. Use a large section of pipe or a large deep socket as a drift to install the new oil seal into the transaxle. Lightly oil the driveaxle seal and then install the driveaxles. Finally, check the transaxle lubricant level or differential lubricant level, and add more as necessary to bring it to the appropriate level.

To replace the extension housing oil seal, you need to first remove the driveshaft from the transaxle. Then, remove the heat shield. Next, use a seal removal tool or screwdriver to carefully pry the oil seal out of the rear of the transaxle. If the oil seal cannot be removed with a screwdriver or prybar, a special oil seal removal tool may be required. Finally, install the new oil seal using a seal driver or a large deep socket as a drift, and lubricate the splines of the output shaft and the outside of the driveshaft sleeve yoke with lightweight grease before reinstalling the driveshaft.
