    How to Remove and Replace Fuel Injectors and Fuel Rail on a Subaru Forester? Posted by Customer

    For non-turbo models, remove the air intake duct, resonator, air filter housing, spark plug wires from No.1 and No.3 cylinders, power steering pump and fuel rail protector. Disconnect electrical connectors from fuel injectors and vacuum hose from fuel pressure regulator. Disconnect fuel supply and return hoses from fuel rail. Remove fuel rail and injectors as a single assembly. Replace old O-rings on each injector with new ones. Reinstall fuel rail and injectors. For the left fuel rail, remove bolts securing windshield washer fluid reservoir, disconnect spark plug wires for No.2 and No.4 cylinders, PCV hose, fuel rail protector(s), and injector harness. Replace injector O-rings. For turbo models, relieve fuel system pressure, remove engine cover, disconnect cable from negative battery terminal, air intake duct, engine coolant reservoir, and electrical connector from fuel injector. Replace old injector O-ring with a new one.

    On non-turbo models, depressurize the fuel system and disconnect the negative battery terminal. Disconnect spark plug wires from cylinders 1 and 3. Unbolt the power steering pump and remove the fuel rail protector. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the fuel injectors and the fuel line fitting. Remove the fuel rail and injectors as a unit. Plug the injector holes in the intake manifold. Remove the old O-rings from each injector and replace them with new ones. Reinstall the injectors and fuel rail. For the left fuel rail, remove the windshield washer fluid reservoir and disconnect spark plug wires from cylinders 2 and 4. Disconnect the PCV hose and remove the fuel rail protector. Disconnect the injector harness and remove the fuel rail and injectors as a unit. Replace the O-rings as before. For turbo models, remove the intake manifold and disconnect the fuel injector electrical connector. Remove the fuel rail cover and lift up the rail to remove the injectors. Replace the O-rings and reinstall.
