    Q:
How to check Fuel Pump and fuel pressure on Subaru Legacy? Posted by Customer
    A:
To inspect the fuel system, remove the fuel cap and turn the ignition key to ON. If no sound is heard, check the fuel pump fuse and trace the circuit for a short. Remove the relay of the fuel pump and look for the battery voltage. Unplug the fuel pump connector at the tank and look for voltage with the ignition turned on. Relieve fuel pressure, disconnect the negative battery cable, and insert the fuel pressure gauge between the fuel hose and filter inlet pipe. Start the engine and compare pressure readings with the Specifications. If incorrect, check for vacuum at the fuel pressure regulator, a fuel filter or line restriction, or a blocked fuel return hose. After testing, relieve pressure, take out the gauge and connect the fuel line.
