    It is situated at the front of the engine block, which is below the alternator and above the timing belt cover. Remove the cable from battery ground (negative) terminal. On 2005 and subsequent turbocharged Legacy and Outback models as well as 2006 and subsequent turbocharged Forester models, remove the engine cover. Discard accessory drive belt. Disengage electrical connector on CKP sensor. Press release tab to separate CKP sensor from engine block and also disconnect its electrical connector after that, finally take it out by removing sensor mounting bolt for removal of sensing unit from block. Remove CKP sensor mounting bolt. Installation is opposite to elimination.

    Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal, remove the engine cover (if equipped), remove the accessory drivebelt, depress the release tab and disconnect the electrical connector from the CKP sensor, remove the sensor mounting bolt and remove the sensor. Installation is the reverse of removal.
