    Disconnect the battery's negative cable and partially drain coolant. Remove the air intake duct, filter housing, and engine cover if present. Disconnect the ECT sensor's electrical connector and unscrew the sensor. Wrap the sensor threads with Teflon tape. Remove the alternator and repeat the process with the second ECT sensor. Reinstall everything in reverse order and refill the coolant.

    To remove the ECT sensor, you need to disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal, partially drain the engine coolant, remove the engine cover (for 2005 and later turbocharged models), remove the alternator, disconnect the electrical connector from the ECT sensor, and unscrew and remove the ECT sensor.
