    How do you replace the thermostat for the 2008 Subaru Forester? Posted by Customer
    A:
    1. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands.2. Drain the cooling system.3. Place the drain pan under the thermostat housing.4. Remove the bolts and lift off the housing cover.5. Note how the thermostat is installed and pull it out.6. Clean the mating surfaces of the thermostat housing and cover.7. Install a new seal on the thermostat.8. Place the thermostat into the housing with the proper end facing out.9. Carefully position the housing cover.10. Install the bolts and tighten them to the torque listed in the specifications.11. Place the radiator hose onto the housing cover (if removed).12. Install the hose clamp and tighten it securely.13. Refill the radiator with coolant.14. Start the engine and check for leaks around the thermostat housing and the lower radiator hose.
