- A:The driveshaft transmits power between the transaxle and the rear differential, employing a splined sleeve yoke at the front end and bolted to the differential pinion flange at the rear end. Universal joints are located at either end of the driveshaft, and a third U-joint is installed behind the center bearing, which is a ball-type bearing mounted in a rubber cushion attached to the vehicle floorpan. All models are equipped with a pair of front axle shafts and two rear axle shafts, consisting of an inner and outer ball-and-cage type CV joint connected by an axleshaft, or a tri-pot inner joint and a ball-and-cage outer joint. The inner CV joint can be disassembled, while the axleshaft and outer CV joint are a single assembly and cannot be disassembled.
