How to Remove and Replace a Radiator and Coolant Reservoir on a Subaru Forester?

Set the parking brake, raise the vehicle, and support it on jackstands. Remove the splash shield, drain the cooling system, and remove the air intake duct and coolant reservoir. Remove the heat-shield and lower radiator cover on turbo models. Disconnect the radiator hoses, fluid cooler lines, and fan electrical connectors. Remove the radiator mounting brackets and any attached clips or hoses. Lift out the radiator and cooling fans, inspect for leaks and damage. Remove the coolant reservoir and top engine cover. Fill the cooling system with coolant, start the engine, and check for leaks. Recheck coolant level and add transaxle fluid as needed. Tighten the radiator bracket bolts, guide the radiator into the mounts, and fill the cooling system. Check the radiator mounts for deterioration and clean the radiator. Flush the radiator before reinstallation, and reinstall in reverse order. Fill the cooling system with coolant.

The Subaru Forester Radiator directs hot coolant from the engine through narrow tubes, which have metal fins to transfer thermal energy to the air coming in through the front grille. The Radiator is mounted in front of the engine of the vehicle. It is the main component of the Subaru cooling system.
