Inspect the 
Control Arm ball joints for looseness anytime either of them is separated from the control arm, and if the ball joint is loose or the ball stud can be turned, replace the ball joint. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands, wipe each ball joint clean and inspect the seal for cuts and tears, then place a large prybar under the ball joint and resting on the wheel and try to pry the ball joint up and down while feeling for movement between the ball joint and 
Steering Knuckle. Have an assistant grasp the tire at the top and bottom and move the top of the tire in and out to check for looseness in the ball joint stud castellated nut. To replace the ball joint, loosen the front wheel lug nuts, remove the cotter pin and loosen the castle nut on the ball stud, separate the control arm from the ball joint, remove the ball joint pinch bolt from the steering knuckle, install the ball joint into the knuckle and tighten the pinch bolt, reattach the control arm to the ball joint and tighten the castle nut, install a new cotter pin, install the wheels and lower the vehicle, and tighten the wheel lug nuts.
