Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Remove the drivebelt cover and remove the alternator drivebelt. If the vehicle is equipped with cruise control, and if the cruise control cable is clipped to the small bracket that's located right behind the alternator electrical connector, detach the clip and set the cable aside to give yourself more room to work. Disconnect the
Battery Cable and the electrical connector from the alternator. Remove this nut and disconnect the battery cable from the B+ terminal, then depress the release tab and disconnect the electrical connector from the alternator. Remove the adjustment and pivot bolts and separate the alternator from the engine. To detach the alternator from the engine, remove the adjustment bolt and the pivot bolt, then lilt the alternator out of the engine compartment. Installation is the reverse of removal. After the alternator is installed, adjust the drivebelt tension.
