How to remove and install a starter motor on Subaru Legacy?

Take out the cable from the negative battery terminal. Eliminate filter housing on non-turbo engines. Take off inter-cooler for turbo models. Separate air filter housing support bracket on non-turbo models. Remove these two bolts to separate air filter housing support bracket. Get rid of wire and large cable from starter solenoid terminals. Then remove this nut and disconnect starter cable from B+ terminal in starter solenoid and depress this release tab while disconnecting electrical connectors from the solenoid. Remove upper mount bolt of starter motor. Don't forget to reattach your battery ground cable bracket when you install that bolt again. Make sure you lift the car up and rest it safely on jack stands. Loosen lower mount bolt for starter motor then detach startup assembly from engine block itself, finally remove the bolt in question Stow away mounting nut of motor starting mechanism below assemblage by hand only so it is not lost during refitting process later on line with similar activities in reverse.
