Q: How to Remove and Install a CMP Sensor?A: Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal, then disconnect the electrical connector from the CMP sensor and remove the CMP sensor support mounting bolts. On non-turbocharged models, remove the support and sensor as an assembly and unbolt the CMP sensor from the sensor support. On turbocharged models, remove the engine cover, if equipped, then if replacing the left intake CMP sensor on 2006 and earlier non-STI models, remove the intercooler assembly, or on 2008 and later STI models, remove the intake manifold. If replacing an exhaust CMP sensor, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands, then remove the lower engine splash shield. Disconnect the electrical connector from the CMP sensor, remove the CMP sensor mounting bolt and remove the sensor. Installation is the reverse of removal.
