Q: How to Install a Throttle Position Sensor?A: Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery and, if you're working on a turbocharged model, remove the intercooler. Depress the retaining tab and disconnect the electrical connector from the TP sensor, then remove the TP sensor mounting screws and the sensor. Install the TP sensor, making sure that the tang on the movable part of the sensor is positioned on the correct side of the pin on the throttle plate shaft. On non-turbo models, loosely install the TP sensor mounting screws, plug in the sensor electrical connector, then backprobe the signal return and ground wires of the sensor connector, turn the ignition to ON and rotate the TP sensor slightly until the voltmeter indicates between 045 and 0.55volt with the throttle plate closed. On turbo models, install the mounting screws and tighten them securely. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal.
