A uniform Evaporative Emissions Control (EVAP) system running through Baja, Legacy and Outback models redirects fuel vapors to the intake manifold in operation. The system consists of fuel tank filler neck cap along with other elements such as the fuel cut valve and EVAP canister and drain filter and drain valve and fuel tank pressure sensor and pressure control solenoid valve and shut-off valve and vent valve and purge control solenoid valve which are primarily installed beneath the vehicle. The system controls fuel tank pressure through vapor storage until it ventilates into the intake manifold. The canister provides atmospheric air entry to avoid vacuum development during purging. During operation the diagnostic system monitors system leaks and the valves safeguard the system throughout fueling operations. When an EVAP line develops a kink the fuel tank filler neck cap includes a relief valve so vacuum formation stays prevented. The purge control solenoid valve needs replacement by accessing it under the intake manifold while the EVAP canister requires replacement at the rear of the vehicle. The drain valve together with the drain filter sits above the canister while the fuel tank pressure sensor exists above the inner CV joint boot. The pressure control solenoid valve installation occurs above the rear axle differential while the vent valve placement takes position on top of the fuel tank. To reach the shut valve mechanics need to detach the fuel filler neck pipe because this component is positioned at the top of the assembly.
