Have the refrigerant discharged and recovered by an air conditioning technician, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal, drain the cooling system, disconnect the heater hoses from the firewall, disconnect the line fittings for the air conditioning evaporator, disconnect the temperature control cable from the heater unit, remove the center console, the instrument panel and the support beam from behind the instrument panel, remove the blower motor housing, remove the fasteners for the heater housing and then lift it from the vehicle, remove the screws for the heater core cover on the heater housing, pull the heater core straight out of the housing, slide the new heater core into the housing, making sure that the sealing foam is in place and secure the heater core cover, reassemble the heater core housing, install the heater unit in the vehicle, install any heater ducts which may have been removed or separated, install the support beam, the instrument panel and the center console, install the air bag control module, install the temperature control cable, connect the heater hoses and the refrigerant lines at the firewall, fill the radiator with coolant and reconnect the battery, start the vehicle and operate the heater controls and check for any leakage around the hose connections.
