To remove the inter cooler on 2004 and later Legacy and Outback models and 2004 and later Forester models, disconnect the PCV hoses from the PCV metal lines and disconnect the PCV metal lines from the inter cooler, disconnect the turbocharger inlet duct and the vacuum hose from the air bypass valve, remove the inter cooler mounting bolts, loosen the hose clamp that secures the duct between the turbocharger and the inter cooler and loosen the hose clamps that secure the duct between the inter cooler and the throttle body, lift up the inter-cooler and disconnect the turbocharger duct and the throttle body duct from the inter cooler, then remove the inter cooler. On 2006 and later Legacy and Outback models, remove the engine cover, loosen the hose clamp that secures the air bypass duct to the air bypass valve, then disconnect the bypass duct from the bypass valve, loosen the hose clamp that secures the outlet duct of the inter-cooler to the throttle body, remove the bolts that secure the intake duct to the turbocharger, remove the inter cooler mounting bolts and remove the inter cooler. If you're replacing the inter cooler, remove the air bypass valve and install it on the new inter cooler. Installation is the reverse of removal.
