How to Remove the Shift Lever Assembly? Posted by Customer

Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery, make sure the shift lever is in the NEU-TRAL position, raise the vehicle and place it securely on jackstands, disconnect the shift cable from the Automatic Transmission Shift Levers on the transaxle, lower the vehicle and remove the center console, remove the Automatic Transmission Shift Levers grip, depress the tabs on each side of the Automatic Transmission Shift Levers indicator base and lift the base up and over the Automatic Transmission Shift Levers, unplug the electrical connectors from the shift-lock solenoid and the park position switch, remove the Automatic Transmission Shift Levers base mounting bolts and remove the Automatic Transmission Shift Levers assembly, installation is the reverse of removal and adjust the shift cable.
