Alleviate the fuel tank and system pressure, then disconnect the negative battery terminal. Remove the rear seat, floor mat, and center console. Disconnect the fuel pump and level-sending unit harness. Unplug the fuel supply, return hoses, and parking brake cable. Remove trim carpeting and EVAP line protector. Disconnect the EVAP line. Loosen the back wheel lug nuts, lift the vehicle, and remove the rear wheels and front fuel tank covers. Drain fuel from the tank. Remove the fuel level sending unit, rear exhaust pipe, muffler, and driveshaft. Disconnect the ABS sensor. Remove the brake cable assembly and rear brake calipers. Support and lower the rear differential and suspension assembly. Disconnect the fuel filler neck hose, fuel tank pressure sensor hose, air vent hose, and EVAP hose. Finally, lower the fuel tank.

It should not be placed in an area where sparks or open flames could ignite the fumes coming out of the tank.

Remove the trim carpeting from the right side of the trunk (sedan models) or the rear quarter lower trim (wagon models). Remove the grommet and disconnect the EVAP line quick-connect fitting from the EVAP line in the right front corner of the trunk/luggage compartment.
