For 2004 and earlier models, to replace the trunk lock cylinder, one would have to first open the trunk, remove all the necessary trim panels, disconnect the latch to lock cylinder rod, followed by the removal of the lock cylinder retaining clip using a pair of pliers and finally pulling the lock cylinder out of the trunk lid from the exterior. For models 2005 and later: Open the trunk, then pull out the trim panels, and take out the trunk lid release handle; then to disconnect the connectors of the trunk opener cable, and to erase two fasteners to take out the lock assembly. Removal and installation for both models are quite the opposite of one another.
