    Q:
What are the necessary tools and steps for spark plug replacement on Subaru Forester? Posted by Customer
    A:
Typically, the following tools are needed when replacing a spark plug, a spark plug socket that fits into a ratchet, a range of extensions and also a gap gauge for checking and adjusting the new plugs. A torque wrench should be used to secure the new plugs. The best method of changing these components is to get them first, regulate their gaps accurately and then replace one after another. However, let the engine cool before taking out any of the old plugs. Look at all your new plugs for defects and alter their gaps if possible. You insert the proper-thickness gage between electrodes at the tip of the plug to check its gap. There should be equal distance between both electrodes as indicated. If it's wrong, use adjuster on gauge body to slightly bend curved side electrode until correct gap is achieved. If you have turbo engines, remove battery and battery tray too. When fitted take off engine cover first then eliminate air intake ducts plus resonator or air filter housing on models obstructing access to spark plugs locations. Start with detaching individual ignition coils from turbo engines so as to get access to spark plugs. After removing one wire from one non-turbo engine, blow off any dirt or other foreign material inside that space if you are lucky enough to have compressed air with you around this time! Put the spark plug socket over it in order to remove it from its place by turning it anti-clockwise. To get an idea about how your engine has been running generally examine your chart with respect to this particular spark plug alone .Apply just a little amount of anti-seize compound on screw end of plugs .At least put one of those fresh units into socket until manual grip strength fades away; after that tighten using an electric wrench or similar hand tool set.Rotate-push down onto coil after reaching lug ensuring not touching ignition points at all before snapping it onto this spot for however many more times.Remove each wire to be sure in the case of a non-turbo engine. Carry out these same steps on all the remaining ones.

    Q:
What should be done after removing the spark plugs from the engine for the 2004 Subaru Impreza? Posted by Customer
    A:
After removing the spark plugs from the engine, you should compare them to new spark plug to get an indication of the general running condition of the engine. Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the spark plug threads and use a short length of rubber hose as a tool to start threading the new spark plug into place.

    Q:
How do you remove spark plugs on the 2002 Subaru Legacy? Posted by Customer
    A:
On non-turbo engines, begin by removing the spark plug wire from one spark plug. If compressed air is available, use it to blow any dirt or foreign material away from the spark plug hole. Then, place the spark plug socket over the plug and remove it from the engine by turning it in a counterclockwise direction.
